Dr. Walker is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and has been practicing dermatology and dermatologic surgery for over 25 years.
She was born in West Virginia and grew up in the former Panama Canal Zone. One of five siblings, Dr. Walker left Panama in 1978, to attend the University of South Alabama. She was accepted to the Marshall University School of Medicine in West Virginia, where she earned her medical degree. Upon graduation, she pursued a specialty in internal medicine at the University Hospital (Affiliate of University of Florida), Jacksonville, FL; and later specialized in dermatology and dermatologic surgery at Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, PA.
Dr. Walker also trained with the US Navy in tropical medicine and dermatology and spent a three-month rotation with the Department of Dermatology at the University of Chile, Santiago, Chile. She has co-authored several dermatology publications.
She is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the Florida Society of Dermatologic Surgery, and the Sarasota County Medical Society. She is also a contributor to Camp Discovery, a summer camp for children with skin diseases.
In addition to her professional life, she keeps quite busy meeting her responsibilities as a mother. Her interests include tennis, swimming, hiking and protecting the environment.
Dr. Walker is fluent in English and Spanish.
